What are the differences between hot melt adhesives in winter and summer? What paper won't stick hot melt adhesive?
Hot melt adhesive does have a distinction between winter and summer, as its viscosity and fluidity are affected by temperature.
In winter, when the temperature is low, the hot melt adhesive may become too thick and hard, leading to a decrease in adhesive strength;
In summer, when the temperature is high, the hot melt adhesive may be too thin and soft, and even exhibit flowing phenomena.
Therefore, in order to ensure that the hot melt adhesive can perform well in different seasons, the manufacturer will adjust the formula of the hot melt adhesive according to the seasonal characteristics to adapt to different climate environments.
In addition, regarding the issue of which paper is not sticky, generally speaking, paper with a smooth surface and poor water absorption is not suitable for using hot melt adhesive because it is difficult for hot melt adhesive to penetrate into the paper fibers, and the adhesion force will be affected. For example, smooth surface paper such as copperplate paper and glossy paper, as well as non absorbent paper such as glass paper, are not suitable for using hot melt adhesive. On the contrary, paper with a rough surface and good water absorption, such as newsprint, writing paper, kraft paper, etc., is more suitable for using hot melt adhesive. The fiber structure of these papers is conducive to the penetration and adhesion of hot melt adhesive, thereby improving adhesion.
It should be noted that different brands and types of hot melt adhesives have different usage requirements and applicable ranges. Therefore, in practical applications, small-scale testing should be conducted first to ensure that the selected hot melt adhesive and paper combination can achieve the desired bonding effect.
